Mind training is about gardening the self while we are observing the beauty growing at its own pace. We have to take care about what we put in the soil, and how we deal with what is on its surface, in order to ensure our garden, i.e. our mind, gets the proper nutrients to remain vivid, strong, and sharp, giving us back the beautiful results of our own intervention. Consciousness is the skillful gardener while unconsciousness represents that our garden is left alone for self-care, which may imply letting something not so good get into the soil. The moment we realise mind training is a personal and unique duty, it is the moment we understand we are the only ones able to achieve the unlimited beautiful results of its regular practise.

Let us get back to the fact we cannot control what is on the outside but we can control how we deal with what we have contact with. It is a matter of consciousness not letting any negativity get into our garden, right deep into our soil, spreading fast towards any thought we are able to produce. From time to time we make our own experiences to see if something we observe in the environment is good for our own mind. Sometimes it helps; sometimes it does not. The realisation of any result we may take from our garden is only possible with consciousness, the skillful gardener ready to work the way towards enlightenment, and out of darkness.

There is nothing so dark that cannot be enlightened, as there is nothing so enlightened that cannot be improved. Buddha, the enlightened one, has passed such beautiful realisation by saying his teachings are not to be practised out of understanding and application at our own perspective and relativity. Buddha has made clear we have the right to reject what he has promoted from his own personal experiences, which implies the beautiful wisdom of recognising he was not a perfect being but an equal, a creature of love with imperfections like anyone else. Acceptance of his sharings cannot be achieved by blind faith but rather by conscious practise of observing, analysing, and understanding the self. The practise of taking care of our own garden, full of love, kindness, and compassion deep within the heart.

It may take time to realise how to enhance the beauty we have inside, as it may take time to understand how to get consciousness grounded at hand. The moment we realise there is an unlimited power deep inside, it is the moment we understand enhancing the self is not something to be compared but get boosted by.
