There is a world of possibilities derived from the knowledge we can acquire during a conscious observation and understanding. We are able to recognise our moments of joy, suffering, doubt, and needs of enhancing and performing mind training. There is always room for improvements towards the path of a meaningful life. There is always a new event to be created, a new scene to be lived, a new page to be written, and a new chapter to be opened. The moment we realise everything we do is only able to control the self, it is the moment we understand silence does not represent a continuous and permanent absence of words.
We usually associate silence to the attitude of not breaking words, the idea of being quiet regarding the situation we are experiencing in the present moment. Silence is more than that, and it is far from being a simple act of turning the self into a mute state. The true meaning of silence, obtained by understanding Buddha’s teachings, is breaking meaningful words for the moment, and associated audience. Breaking words not meaningful for the moment, or the associated audience, configures a step into a period of suffering. Those periods of suffering are clear as crystal for a conscious mind observing the self in an inquisitive and non-judgemental posture.
Sometimes we can prevent stepping into suffering, and sometimes such a step is required to understand the extension and magnitude of what suffering is in our own perspective and relativity. The difference in stepping into suffering consciously or unconsciously is in the extraction of knowledge from those moments, which are always unique.
Some of us could feel the dragon within, breathing, generating the warmth of fire with power to comfort the self and everyone close by. Others are just observing, listening, and trying to understand what is going on in and out. There are also some of us with no idea of the events happening in the present moment, regarding a period of suffering being experienced. Each one of us has a path to follow, challenges to overcome, knowledge to acquire, and a life to be lived.
Acting with intelligence does not mean being part of a government agency but acquiring knowledge from every situation lived, mainly if that situation configures suffering itself. The moment we realise the world of possibilities behind the power of our own mind, it is the moment we understand the purpose of a meaningful life and the requirement of not harming others. In that moment we realise the true purpose of secret services and intelligence agencies, which should be making the world a better place, full of love, where current laws are followed by anyone (with no exception).
