Facing darkness is a lifetime commitment, which implies learning how to observe the environment we’re inserted into in a conscious and meaningful way. We need as soon as we can start identifying the patterns—and their variations—of anything happening in the surroundings that are aside from our love nature. Such an identification is extremely important to create a foundation regarding how to survive within the society, which is customised and adapted to our own perspective and relativity. It doesn’t mean that every strategy that we’ve developed on our own, which works well to the self, will be effective to another. Those strategies have to be validated before they could be applied on a large scale. It means when we keep consciousness at hand we create proper conditions to develop effective strategies in a way they become extremely useful and suitable to us.
There’s a strong potential and capability of human beings to step into their personal evolution on their own, which means any human being is capable of creating and developing suitable strategies to face darkness if they are willing and motivated to do so. It’s a matter of focusing our mind in a way we start surpassing any challenge or difficulty related to the negative conditioning we’re subjected to in the environment we’re inserted into.
Buddha’s teachings are the vivid example of something that needs to be validated, case by case. Buddha was aware of the need for such validation, as he has said we have the right to either accept or reject any of his teachings according to our own experiences, perspectives, and relativities. The wonderful about that is the flexibility we’ve, and the ability we can develop about how to apply a given Buddha’s teachings to our own perspective and relativity; and if it doesn’t work for us, how we can develop something on our own that is suitable to the specificities of the situation, environment, perspective, and relativity associated to the self.
The more we realise the power is all deep within, the more we understand why facing darkness and dealing with the negative conditioning we’re inserted into is a personal duty.
