Developing the sense of awareness is fundamental to draw suitable strategies to face darkness, establishing our actions based on understanding instead of unconscious conditioning. When we try to perform the conditioning of our unconscious mind, we’re just pretending nothing is happening in the surroundings, overwhelming the duty of understanding our own suffering, and dealing with it in a conscious and meaningful way. We need to wake up, keep consciousness at hand, and observe the surroundings through the lens of our third eye. Darkness, Neo-Nazism, and slavery-related values will not vanish in a snap of fingers. We need to face and deal with them. Let’s just imagine we’re in a beautiful and astonishing environment where everyone is kind and compassionate. We can also imagine such an environment established by a careful mother that is always kind and protective. In that environment we get extremely comfortable, becoming reckless to the duty of understanding our own suffering. Now, let’s imagine the opposite: a harsh environment where everyone is obnoxious, and being obnoxious is the norm. In such a challenging environment we may think the problem is us, and therefore, the conditioned norm is finding a way to fit in such an obnoxious pattern to be accepted. That is a deception and a lie. We don’t need to be accepted but we need to understand love is something cultivated, nurtured, and manifested from the inside out. The moment we realise the middle path requires the balance between understanding our own suffering and dealing with the hatred and negativity we’ve contact with in the environment we’re inserted into, it’s the moment we understand that we need to cultivate a kind, compassionate, and non-judgemental attitude yet getting prepared to face darkness and deal with any type of obnoxious behaviour before the self, no matter the circumstances.

It’s only when we understand what love really is that we can start observing the presence of darkness in the surroundings in a conscious and meaningful way. When we do that we understand darkness is a threat no more. Instead, we start getting prepared to face it no matter the circumstances.

The real problem of using conditioning instead of understanding when facing darkness is that we get fragile and dependent on the conditioning strategy we’ve adopted. The use of psychotropic drugs, avoidance, indifference, or any other type of conditioning strategy we may use to pretend darkness isn’t in the surroundings has a big back hole and negative side effect: a fraction of second “the protection” of such conditioning works no more, our unprepared and conditioned mind just get overwhelmed and extremely random, implying entering a mode that prioritises the need of primitive survivability. And we all know what our prehistoric ancestors needed to do to survive within a hostile environment.

As a consequence, a mind in suffering who wants complete control of the population finds conditioning the only way to achieve success when using a manipulative strategy. People need to just believe instead of understand. And that is the huge difference between facing darkness in a conscious and meaningful way, or throwing a coin to the air hoping to get lucky by surviving another day.

The moment we realise what happens in the surroundings, it’s the moment we understand why keeping consciousness at hand is the foundation for walking the path towards a meaningful life no matter the circumstances.
