Let’s imagine the state is spending £12K/person (i.e., salary only) with a team composed of 15 people charged with the duty of performing some sort of surveillance over the population. Such a team would cost the state £180K/month, which means £2.16M/year. Now let’s imagine investing such money, e.g., in education and research projects every single year. It seems to make no difference unless we take into consideration the possibility of producing knowledge and new technology, triggering a feedback loop of producing more knowledge, technology, jobs, and therefore, boosting the economy in the mid/long-term. The good news is: more educated and conscious people need less surveillance. If we apply the same principle for observing, analysing, and understanding our own suffering, we end up with the fact that people who keep consciousness at hand no matter the circumstances, acquiring as much knowledge as they can and attaining higher levels of peace of mind, are able to deal with anything in the mid/long-run. As a consequence, a considerable part of money we spend with healthcare could be spent supporting a more sustainable and meaningful way of life. Let’s just think about that for a while.
Our life journey is made of choices, and every single moment we make a decision it opens new branches and possibilities leading us towards distinguished directions regarding our life journey. We can choose whether facing the presence of darkness in the surroundings; whether embracing darkness; whether cultivating and nurturing the beautiful life we’ve deep within; whether performing our body and mind training; and so on. When we’re conscious we’ve the power to decide what to do, which illustrates how important it’s keeping consciousness at hand no matter the circumstances.
The choice is always ours to make. Let’s be light, attaining higher levels of peace of mind and walking the path towards a meaningful life, stepping into our personal evolution.
