There are non-negotiable things, and it’s important we draw a clear line implying there are limits, gates of our personal fortress, and personal space that cannot be trespassed. They’re part of the private space we need to function, work, train, step into our personal evolution, observe, and understand the universe we’re connected with. We need to attain clarity of mind and keep consciousness at hand to be able to clearly draw that line, establish the limits and build up the gates of our personal fortress that we need to be able and prepared to defend no matter the circumstances. If someone (anyone) insists in trespassing those limits even if receiving an alert/warning about that, we need to have clear in our mind that it’s that person’s problem and not ours. Let me give you an example. If a woman is walking through a given environment and a man approaches her in an attempt to force any type of sexual intercourse because he desires it, or tries to obtain anything she has with her, and she alerts/warns the man to keep the distance and he insists on entering her personal space, should she accept anything that man are doing? The answer is no. She has the right to clearly establish her limits and defend herself no matter the circumstances. Kindness and compassion have nothing to do with allowing anyone at any circumstances trespassing our limits, the gates of our personal fortress and personal space without our consent. There are limits that cannot be trespassed under any circumstances or we cannot be what we really are. The moment we realise that, it’s the moment we understand how peaceful we become when we’re able to clearly draw those limits, building up the gates of our personal fortress, which implies the duty of performing our body and mind training to get ready to apply defensive manoeuvres, consciously, meaningfully, and most importantly, with our mind at peace.
Monasteries are external fortresses ensuring that people performing their training and pursuing their spiritual path would never have their limits and personal space trespassed without their consent. However, if we would like to perform our body and mind training and pursuing our spiritual path while in the middle of the society we’re part of, we need to be prepared to defend ourselves from the presence of darkness in the surroundings, as we wouldn’t have help from a monastery, a sacred space we share with others pursuing a similar spiritual path, and where its defence becomes a duty of everyone else involved. We may establish a monastery-like environment within our home, although we need to have clear in our mind that it’s not the same as being inside a real one.
The beauty of consciousness is understanding those differences and adapting them to establish a strong foundation where we can perform and practice our training, stepping into our personal evolution as the result of our progress. Establishing our limits and clearly drawing them in a conscious and meaningful way is essential to get prepared to attain unimaginable levels of peace of mind in circumstances that usually we expect not to do so. For those moments we set down our mind at peace, establishing a strong yet peaceful posture, we may say we’ve attained the clarity of mind for doing so. The cycle is then complete, requiring from now the personal effort to grow the magnitude and strength of its posture.
Let’s be brave to cultivate and nurture the beautiful light we’ve deep within no matter the circumstances. We would be capable of knowing when the cycle is complete, and therefore, getting prepared to attain unimaginable and extraordinary things with our mind at peace.
